The January edition of the Beaver Watershed Alliance e-News announced that Ms. Becky Roark has joined the Beaver Watershed Alliance (“BWA”) staff.
She joined BWA in December.
Ms. Roark holds a B.S. in Landscape Architecture from the University of Arkansas. She has worked in the water quality and conservation field since 2010. Her work has included helping to develop the Low Impact Development Manual – A Design Manual for Urban Areas. This work was undertaken during an internship at the University of Arkansas Community Design Center.
Ms. Roark has also served as an AmeriCorps Volunteer with the University of Arkansas Office of Sustainability. She has designed and installed over 75 rain gardens in both the Beaver Lake and Illinois River watershed.
BWA describes its purpose as to:
. . .proactively protect, maintain, and enhance the water quality of Beaver Lake and the integrity of its watershed through outreach and education, voluntary best management practice implementation, and scientific investigation. BWA represents a diverse stakeholder group from conservation, education, water utilities, technical and science, agriculture, recreation, business, and local government groups working together for a goal of clean water.
