The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (“ADEQ”) issued a news release stating it will host the first Beautiful Buffalo River Action Committee (“Committee”) meeting on January 17th.
The formation of the Committee was announced by Governor Hutchinson in a September 30th memorandum to the Directors of the:
- Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality
- Arkansas Department of Health
- Arkansas Agricultural Department
- Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism
- Arkansas Natural Resources Commission
These agencies serve as Committee members along with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as a “partner” in the organization’s work.
Governor Hutchinson directed the Committee to:
- Establish measurable objectives
- Set achievable items
- Establish durable partnerships
- Share agency resources
- Inform policymakers and the general public of relevant progress
ADEQ states that the January 17th Committee meeting topics will include:
- Arkansas Natural Resources Commission update on the Watershed Management Plan
- Agency Directors “updates and opportunities” in the Buffalo River Watershed
- Presentation by the National Park Service on their 2017 priorities for the Buffalo National River
The meeting will be held at 1:30 at the ADEQ headquarters.
