The United States Corps of Engineers (“Corps”) has published a March 3rd Federal Register Notice of its Intent to:
… prepare a draft Beaver Lake Master Plan and Shoreline Management Plan and Environmental Assessment to investigate potential significant impacts, either positive or negative to Beaver Lake’s authorized purposes of flood risk management, hydropower, water supply, recreation, and fish and wildlife. (“Draft Environmental Assessment”)

The Corps states that the Draft Environmental Assessment is being prepared pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act and applicable regulations.
The Federal Register Notice provides information regarding:
- Beaver Lake (described as a multiple purpose water resource development project primarily for flood risk management, municipal and industrial water supply, and hydropower generation with additional purposes that include water recreation, and fish and wildlife management to the extent the additional purposes do not adversely affect flood risk management, power generation, or other authorized purpose of the project.)
- Study Location(Beaver Lake Civil Works project is described as being located in Northwest Arkansas and includes both land and water surface consisting of 38,138 acres.)
- Study History (Master Plan originally approved in 1963 and subsequently updated with 23 supplements.)
- Scoping/Public Involvement (referencing scheduling public meetings and a description of the scoping process.)
- Issues/Alternatives (The Environmental Assessment will evaluate effects from a range of alternatives developed to address potential environmental concerns such as impacts on hydropower, flooding, recreation, water supply, fish and wildlife and other impacts identified by public, agencies or Corps studies.)
