The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) announced that it will invest $225 million in what it describes as 88 High-Impact projects in the United States.
Two hundred and twenty-five million dollars in federal funding will be provided pursuant to the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (“RCPP”).
The USDA characterizes the RCPP as promoting coordination between the Natural Resources Conservation Service (“NRCS”) (and its partners) to deliver conservation assistance to producers and landowners. The NRCS provides assistance to producers through partnership agreements and program contracts for easement agreements.
The focus of the program is the improvement of the nation’s water quality, combating drought, enhancing soil health, supporting wildlife habit and protecting agricultural viability.
The fiscal 2017 Arkansas projects listed include:
- Mid-South Graduated Water Stewardship Program
- Departee Creek Flood Prevention
- The Little Red River Water Improvement Project
