(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) — Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, P.L.L.C. has awarded its annual H. Maurice Mitchell Leaders in Law Scholarships to Carson Henderson and Lauren McCauley. Carson is a law student at the University of Arkansas School of Law. McCauley is a law student at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law. Each student received a $2,000 scholarship for the 2022-23 school year.
The H. Maurice Mitchell Leaders in Law Scholarships are awarded annually to students selected to leadership roles as the chair of the Board of Advocates at the University of Arkansas School of Law and Moot Court board chair at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law.
Henderson is a third-year law student at the University of Arkansas School of Law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science from the University of Arkansas graduating magna cum laude. He is a graduate of Conway High School. As chair of the Board of Advocates, he is responsible for all operations for the Board of Advocates, including oversight for all intra- and inter- school competitions as well as public relations with Arkansas alumni and legal community. Henderson served as a justice for Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity Garland Chapter, has been a member of the Arkansas TYLA National Trial Team, and was runner-up in the Ben J. Altheimer Moot Court Competition.
McCauley is a third-year law student at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in management information systems from the University of Central Arkansas, graduating cum laude in both degrees. She is a graduate of Benton High School. She is the Moot Court board chair where she presides over all moot court activities and meetings and is responsible for organizing training for interschool and intramural competitions. McCauley earned top paper in RWA II and Lawyering Skills. She is an RWA teaching assistant, serves as a Barbri Ambassador and was a Touro Moot Court Competition Quarter Finalist.
