(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) – Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, P.L.L.C. is pleased to announce that law students Maddy McCulloch and Mallory Wood have each been awarded the H. Maurice Mitchell Leaders in Law scholarship. An H. Maurice Mitchell Leaders in Law scholarship is awarded annually to the law student who is selected as the Board of Advocates chair at the University of Arkansas School of Law and to the student who will serve as Moot Court board chair at the University of Arkansas Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law. Both will receive a scholarship in the amount of $2,000.00.
McCulloch is a third-year law student at the University of Arkansas School of Law where she will serve as the 2024-25 Board of Advocates chair. As chair of the Board of Advocates, she will be responsible for all operations for the board including oversight for all intra- and inter- school competitions as well as public relations with Arkansas alumni and legal community.
McCulloch earned a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in communications from the University of Arkansas. In law school, she has been recognized as the 2023 winner of the Board of Advocates Negotiations Competition. She was awarded third place in the 2023 Bailey & Oliver Closing Statement Competition and fourth place in the 2024 Phi Alpha Delta National Trial Competition. She was a finalist in the 2023 William H. Sutton Barrister’s Union Trial Competition. McCulloch served as the Arkansas Bar Association representative for the Student Bar Association in 2023-24 and will serve as the faculty liaison for the Student Bar Association in 2024-25. She is a staff editor for the upcoming issue of the Journal of Food Law & Policy.
Wood is a third-year law student at the University of Arkansas Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law and will serve as the 2024-25 Moot Court board chair. As Moot Court board chair, Wood will preside over all Moot Court activities and meetings and is responsible for organizing training for interschool and intramural competitions.
Wood holds a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in law and constitutional studies from Utah State University. In law school, she has served as secretary of the Student Bar Association and as secretary of the First-Generation Law Student Organization. She is a member of Outdoor Advocates and the Arkansas Association of Women Lawyers.
