LITTLE ROCK – Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates and Woodyard, P.L.L.C. has awarded Bart LaMont of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law and Brittany Ford of the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville its annual H. Maurice Mitchell Leaders in Law scholarships. Each student received a $2,000 scholarship for the 2017-18 school year.
LaMont, of Little Rock, is the chairman of the Bowen School of Law’s Moot Court board, where he organizes training for interschool and intramural competitions and presides over all moot court activities and meetings. Moot Court is an appellate advocacy process in which participants write briefs and argue in a competition setting that simulates actual court proceedings. He has a bachelor's degree in finance from Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
Ford, of Little Rock, is the chairman of the University of Arkansas Law School’s Board of Advocates. She is responsible for the overall management of moot court competitions, client counseling competitions and the trial competition. The board provides support to the legal writing program to judge first-year appellate advocacy programs. Ford has a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in accountancy from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss.
