(AUSTIN, Tex.) — Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, P.L.L.C. announces attorney Michael Nored has joined the firm’s insurance regulatory practice in Austin. Nored is the former Deputy Commissioner of Legal and Enforcement and Chief Counsel of the Health Market Actions Section at the Texas Department of Insurance.
“Michael is highly regarded in the industry and brings a tremendous amount of experience from his work as a regulator at the Texas Department of Insurance,” said Jeff Thomas, Managing Director at Mitchell Williams.
Nored joins the firm having served for 10 years as an insurance regulator and 14 years in private practice focused on insurance, administrative law and litigation. He has extensive experience in compliance, licensing, holding company transactions, acquisitions and administrative proceedings. He is also experienced in advising and commenting on public policy, legislative and rulemaking issues before state and federal regulators, including the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and National Conference of Insurance Legislators.

Nored earned a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law, graduating cum laude. He graduated from Texas A & M University with a bachelor’s degree in political science earning highest honors.
