LITTLE ROCK – Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates and Woodyard, P.L.L.C. attorney John Bryant was a featured panelist at the National Association of Bond Lawyers Tax & Securities Law Institute (TSLI) in Phoenix on Feb. 22.
Bryant served on the presentation panel and discusses “Public Offerings, Limited Offerings and Private Placements.” TSLI featured timely topics pertaining to tax, securities and ethics. Topics included LIBOR’s disappearance, the SEC’s increased enforcement efforts involving disclosure issues, the IRS’s new audit procedures which include no longer identifying what leads to an examination, ethics issues pertaining to cyber security and confidentiality when dealing with public finance practices and tax reform. The 2018 TSLI attendees debated and discussed possible solutions and answers on what these changes and issues will mean to the industry and to future dealings. It served as a place where the top professionals talked about solutions to these matters.
Bryant practices in the area of public finance, with extensive experience in taxable and tax-exempt and public and private finance transactions. He serves regularly in a variety of roles including bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, issuer’s counsel, trustee’s counsel and borrower’s counsel. He has served as lead counsel for transactions involving multiple types of issuers across the State of Arkansas and across the country.
The National Association of Bond Lawyers promotes the integrity of the municipal market through the education of its members in the laws affecting state and municipal bonds. The association provides its members with a forum for the exchange of ideas as to law and practice, giving its members some of the tools that help them continually improve the state of the art in the field.
