AUSTIN – Attorneys Lauren DiLizia and Stan Strickland presented “When InsureTech Meets Regulation” to InsureTech ATX, a group focused on building technology solutions for the insurance industry.
With new insurance innovations driven by tech start-ups attract attention from both the industry and regulators in all 50 states, DiLizia and Strickland shared how they provide insurance technology consulting for emerging tech companies to assist them in advancing their innovation in an increasingly complicated insurance industry.
DiLizia’s practice with Mitchell Williams focuses on handling corporate regulatory and transactional matters, with a particular emphasis on insurance companies. DiLizia has successfully led and managed complex regulatory and compliance issues for insurance companies in Texas and on a national basis.
Strickland is Counsel at Mitchell Williams and his practice focuses on insurance regulatory matters. He is a former deputy commissioner of the Legal Division at the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). While at TDI, Strickland advised the agency on a wide range of regulatory matters including licensure, examinations, holding company transactions, receiverships, policy form and rate filings, rulemaking, agency contracts and public information requests. He also represented TDI at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and other regulatory meetings on issues including cybersecurity, surplus lines, principle based reserving and international regulatory standards.
