Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, P.L.L.C., announces the recipients of the firm’s Take Time To Give Program for 2019. The organizations receiving support this year are the Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp of Little Rock, AR, The Boys & Girls Club of Benton County in Rogers, AR and Carrying Hope of Austin, TX. The Take Time To Give program was established in 2004 to celebrate the firm’s 50th anniversary by challenging every employee to donate 50 hours of their time to community service.
“Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, the Take Time To Give program was started as the result of our founder Maurice Mitchell’s commitment to non-profit organizations and serving our community,” said Attorney Mary Catherine Way, chair of the Take Time To Give committee. “We are proud to continue his legacy with our firm-wide devotion to dedicating our time and resources to these worthy organizations in 2019.”
The Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp improves the lives of at-risk youth through innovative education, outdoor recreation and family involvement. The organization provides residential educational and recreational programs for economically disadvantaged youth in central Arkansas. They also provide weekly parenting workshops to help parents with communication, discipline strategies and parenting resources so they can be better advocates for their children. The Boys & Girls Club of Benton County provides high-quality, low-cost youth development programming to the Northwest Arkansas community. The organization’s mission is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. They provide a safe space for youth to go when school is out after school and during the summer, mentors to help guide them, tutors to assist them with their homework, a meal to ensure they’re properly nourished and lessons in leadership. Carrying Hope provides Hope Packs filled with comfort items and essentials to children who are entering the foster care system in central Texas. The Hope Packs are filled with everything a child who is entering foster care would need during their first 48-hours in the system – bedding, toiletries, backpack for school, etc. For more information, visit carryinghope.com.
In 2009, the firm began selecting a “primary” Take Time To Give charity annually not only donating volunteer hours and pro bono legal services, but also a $25,000 contribution. 10 years later, the Take Time To Give financial contribution has increased to $50,000 in total donations to the chosen charities. In addition to the primary charity in each region, the firm also supports over 100 charitable and community organizations throughout the year with sponsorships, financial contributions, leadership and volunteer service.
Past Take Time To Give recipients include Camp Aldersgate, Horses for Healing, The Center for Exceptional Families, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas, Project Zero, Fostering Hope, Arkansas Foodbank, Northwest Arkansas Foodbank, Foodbank of Northeast Arkansas, Capital Area Foodbank of Texas, Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arkansas, Reach Out and Read Arkansas, ACCESS Group Inc., Our House Shelter, Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.
