Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, P.L.L.C., through the firm’s Take Time to Give Program, announced that foster care will be the firm’s philanthropic focus for 2017. The organizations receiving support are Project Zero in Arkansas and Fostering Hope Austin in Texas.
In late 2016, the number of children in foster care in Arkansas reached an all-time high reaching over 5,000. In Texas, the number tops 30,000. Both organizations work to raise awareness on fostering and adoption opportunities as well as educating and supporting families.
“As foster care rates continue to rise in both Arkansas and Texas, we want to support these organizations in their efforts to raise awareness about the need for adoption and connecting waiting children with forever families,” said Rick Beard, managing director of Mitchell Williams. “By contributing to the admirable efforts of Project Zero and Fostering Hope Austin, our hope is that every waiting child is placed in a loving and supportive forever home.”
Through the annual Take Time to Give charitable giving program, Mitchell Williams’ Board of Directors annually selects a primary non-profit organization to support financially with a $50,000 donation, as well as with pro bono services and volunteer hours. In addition to the primary charity, the firm also supports over 100 charitable and community organizations throughout the year through sponsorships, financial contributions, leadership and volunteer service.
Past Take Time to Give recipients include Arkansas Foodbank, Northwest Arkansas Foodbank, Foodbank of Northeast Arkansas, & Capital Area Foodbank of Texas, Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arkansas, Reach Out and Read Arkansas, ACCESS Group Inc., Our House Shelter, Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.
