On May 4th, the South Central Chapter of the Society of Wetland Scientists is hosting the NW AR Wetland Ecology Tour at Woolsey Wet Prairie, located at 15 S. Broyles in Fayetteville.
There will be presentations and hikes led by local experts in botany, ornithology, and herpetology.
Woolsey Wet Prairie Sanctuary is described as a popular place for nature lovers. It is considered one of the most biologically-rich places in the region.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. on May 4 with programs and hikes running from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided. Door prizes will be given away.
This event is free to children 12 and under. The cost for adults is $15 and $10 for students. All proceeds benefit the Society of Wetland Scientists.
The Society of Wetland Scientists describes itself as an international, professional non-profit organization devoted to promoting understanding, conservation, protection, restoration, science-based management, and sustainability of wetlands. It currently has over 3,000 members in more than 60 countries around the world, including members in governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, academia and private consulting.
