The Portland Cement Association (“PCA”) announced the 2020 Safety Innovation Award winners.
The Ash Grove Cement Company (“Ash Grove”) (a CRH company) has plants located in Durkee, Oregon and Louisville, Nebraska recognized as Safety Innovation Award winners.
Ash Grove also operates a cement manufacturing plant in Foreman, Arkansas.
The Ash Grove plant in Durkee, Oregon was recognized in the General Facility category for an upgraded cart for burner pipes. PCA states that the plant:
. . . reduced safety hazards associated with moving cement kiln burner pipes by designing an upgraded, automated cart.
The Ash Grove plant in Louisville, Nebraska was recognized in the Quarry category for a dump box hardened material extraction tool. The plant is stated to have:
. . . reduced multiple hazards associated with moving material by developing a dump box hardened material extraction tool for their skid steer.
PCA states the winners were determined by a panel of judges that evaluated projects completed in 2019 from across the country that involved creative safety-enhancing projects in the cement industry.
