The 95th Arkansas General Assembly will convene on January 13, 2025.
Bill filing began on November 15th.
Senator Bryan King of Green Forest has introduced Senate Bill 10.
The stated purpose of the Bill is to regulate the impact on water usage and the electric grid by the following:
- Blockchain networks.
- Digital asset mining.
The Bill would task the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission to:
…monitor impact of blockchain networks and digital asset mining on water usage.
Similarly, the Arkansas Public Service Commission would be tasked to:
…monitor impact of blockchain networks and digital asset mining on electric grid.
Senate Bill 10 would provide the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission and the Arkansas Public Service Commission, respectively, the ability to take action against either of those activities if their impacts respectively affect critical groundwater supplies or the reliability of the electric grid.
