The 95th Arkansas General Assembly will convene on January 13, 2025.
Bill filing began on November 15th.
Senator J. Payton introduced Senate Bill 8.
The Bill would appropriate to the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment funds from the Used Tire Recycling Fund for expenses to the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment – Division of Environmental Quality for the Used Tire Recycling and Accountability Program for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025.
The amount to be transferred for fiscal year 2024-2025 is $5 million.
The Used Tire Recycling and Accountability Act is found at Ark. Code. Ann. 8-9-401, et. seq.
The Arkansas General Assembly enacted legislation a number of years ago whose purpose is to assure the appropriate management of waste tires in Arkansas. Both the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment and the Arkansas Regional Solid Waste Management Districts have traditionally played an extensive role in the program.
