The Region 6 Office of the United States Environmental Protection Agency issued a February 7th news release titled:
EPA Advances president Trump’s Infrastructure Agenda in Region 6 Through Accelerated Investments in America’s Water Infrastructure
The Region 6 Office of EPA is located in Dallas and its jurisdiction includes the State of Arkansas.
The news release discusses EPA’s issuance of WIFIA loans in regards to water infrastructure projects. Also noted is the agency’s effort to promote greater efficiencies in the infrastructure permitting process. In this regard, the news release references the proposed revision to the Clean Water Act definition of waters of the United States.
The State Revolving Funds program is also addressed. Drinking water and clean water infrastructure loans and refinancing in the amount of $9.6 billion was stated to have been committed in 2018. In addition, 8.8 billion was disbursed for drinking water and clean water infrastructure. Two Arkansas projects are listed.
The City of Eudora, Arkansas, is stated to have used $6.5 million in loans and loans forgiveness to replace and upgrade the water system, including improvements at the water treatment plant.
Second, the City of West Fork, Arkansas is stated to have completed a project to improve the sewer system using $800,000 in State Revolving Fund loans.
