The American Public Power Association (“APPA”) announced that 202 utilities earned its Safety Award of Excellence (“Award”) for safe operating practices in 2024.
Utilities from across the United States are stated to have entered the Award competition and placed in categories according to their number of worker-hours and rank based on the incident-free records and overall state of their safety programs and culture during 2024.
Benton Utilities (Benton, Arkansas) is listed in the category of having 30,000 – 59,999 worker-hours of exposure.
The APPA describes itself as the:
…voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power approximately 2,000 towns and cities nationwide.
The organization states that it represents public power before the federal government to protect the interests of more than 55 million people that public power utilities serve across the United States and its territories.
