The United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform (“Committee”) held a hearing on March 15th titled:
An Examination of Federal Permitting Processes
The hearing focused on federal permitting processes such as the National Environmental Policy Act and the Clean Water Act.
The witnesses at the hearing included:
- Mr. James Iwanicki, P.E., Engineer-Manager, Marquette County Road Commission (Referencing Clean Water Act Section 404 permitting process associated with road construction)
- Ms. Diane Katz, Senior Research Fellow in Regulatory Policy, The Heritage Foundation (Discussing the National Environmental Policy Act and the Section 404 Clean Water Act Program)
- Ms. Valerie Wilkinson, CPA, Vice President and CFO, The ESG Companies (Discussing the application of the permitting process to the home building community, including jurisdictional delineations associated with the 404 program)
- Mr. Kevin DeGood, Director Infrastructure Policy, Center for American Progress (Discussing the benefit of environmental reviews pursuant to the federal statutes/regulations)
