The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) Office of Inspector General (“OIG”) issued a May 30th Field Work Notification titled:
Analysis of EPA Enforcement Results from Fiscal Years 2006-2018
OIG states that this is the second notification on this topic which is “modified slightly” from the one issued on November 5, 2018.
OIG states that its field work objectives are to answer the following questions:
What are the trends in enforcement results from fiscal years 2006 through 2018 for EPA-led enforcement actions?
What key factors explaining (a) enforcement result trends over time and (b) differences in enforcement result trends among EPA regions and environmental statutes?
Fieldwork will be conducted in the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance as well as the regions. The fieldwork will include:
. . . analysis of environmental outcomes from enforcement actions and a survey of all agency enforcement staff and managers.
A copy of the second notification can be downloaded here and the initial notification here.
