The Arkansas Department of Agriculture announced that the Arkansas State Plant Board Bureau of Standards Committee will meet on August 20th. The meeting will be held by Zoom only.
The Bureau of Standards’ primary mission is described by the Arkansas Department of Agriculture as the promotion of equity and fairness of Arkansas commerce involved in weighing or measuring for commercial purposes.
Examples of areas of interest include:
- LP Gas metering testing.
- Scales.
- Fuel dispensers.
- Pricing.
- Packaging regulations.
- Petroleum products testing.
- Net quantity.
- Test equipment calibration.
The Weights and Measures Program investigates complaints concerning pricing, short measure of purchase products, method of sale and operation of scales and dispensers. Such inspections are conducted in accordance with the Arkansas Code and National Institute of Standards and Technology Handbooks 44, 130, 133.
Agenda items for the August 20th Meeting include:
- Quarterly violations – Nikhil Soman, Bureau of Standards.
- Other business – requests to waive civil penalties.
