The Natural Resources Division (“NRD”) of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture released a document titled:
2022 Arkansas Groundwater Protection and Management Report (“Report”)
NRC states that the Report provides a summary of developments such as:
- Groundwater monitoring efforts
- Current water levels
- NRD protection and conservation programs
- Water use reporting during the 2022 calendar year
The Report also is stated to focus on the Mississippi River Valley Alluvial and Sparta Aquifers. Of particular importance, the Report projects that based on estimated water use, pumping rates continue to exceed generalized sustainable yield estimates in both aquifers. Consequently, the Report states that water-level declines have been observed and are expected to continue in certain areas of the state.
Key components of the Report include:
- Water Policy
- Hydrogeology and Water Level Trends
- Mississippi river Valley Alluvial Aquifer
- Sparta/Memphis Aquifer
- Groundwater Use
- Registered Wells
- Reported Water Use
- Water Conservation Tax Incentive Program
- Summary
- References
- Appendices
- Appendix A: Alluvial Aquifer Water Level Monitoring Data
- Appendix B: Sparta/Memphis Aquifer Water Level Monitoring Data
A copy of the Report can be downloaded here.
