The Arkansas Recycling Coalition (“ARC”) noted in its Spring/2020 Newsletter that Jacob Gould, Deputy Director of the West River Valley Solid Waste District (“West District”) received a grant for nearly $35,000 from the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment – Division of Environmental Quality E-Waste Competitive Grants Program.
The grant is to be utilized to install a solar array at the City of Clarksville, Arkansas, Recycling Center.
ARC states that Mr. Gould:
. . . orchestrated the project as a joint venture involving West River Valley, City of Clarksville, Scenic Hills Solar, and Clarksville Connected Utilities.
The article states that the solar array will reduce carbon emissions by 416 metric tons during the solar system’s 30-year lifespan. Further, it notes that over $50,000 of energy costs will be saved by the City of Clarksville over 30 years.
Mr. Gould is also stated to be planning to expand such projects throughout e-waste collection centers in the West District. The West District is one of the 18 Arkansas Solid Waste Districts and serves the following Arkansas counties:
- Conway
- Crawford
- Franklin
