Mr. Bryan Smith has been appointed to a six-year term to the Arkansas Drinking Water Advisory and Operator Licensing Committee (“Committee”).
Mr. Smith serves as the General Manager of the Grand Prairie Regional Water District.
Arkansas Department of Health Engineering Section publication Arkansas Drinking Water Update (Spring 2023) describes Mr. Smith’s background as including:
. . . 34 years of experience in the drinking water industry, previously with Maumelle Water Management and his current position.
Mr. Smith is stated to currently hold a Distribution Grade 4 and Treatment Grade license since 2000 which was converted from a 1997 Grade A Well license.
The Arkansas Department of Health publication notes that nominations were requested from the following organizations:
- Arkansas Water and Wastewater Managers Association
- Arkansas Rural Water Association
- Arkansas Waterworks and Water Environment Association
- Arkansas Environmental Training Academy Advisory Board
Mr. Smith replaced Mr. Scott Boggs, Searcy Board of Public Utilities, whose six-year term expired.
The Committee activities include advising the Arkansas Department of Health through the Engineering Section on matters including:
- Public water systems
- Administration of the Drinking Water Operator Licensing program
