The Arkansas Department of Health (“ADH”) publication Arkansas Drinking Water Update has an article in its Winter 2023 edition titled:
Martin Nutt Recognized and Announces Retirement
See Volume 37, No. 1.
Mr. Nutt is stated to have announced his retirement after 46 years of service to the ADH Drinking Water Program. He served for many years as ADH’s Drinking Water Operator Training and Certification Officer..
In describing Mr. Nutt’s career at ADH, the article notes in part:
. . . he joined ADH in 1976 and served as a Pollution Control Inspector for the Northeast Arkansas District. In 1991, he became the coordinator for the initial implementation of the Surface Water Treatment Rule before being promoted to his current role as the Drinking Water Operator Training and Certification Officer in 1993. He oversaw the implementation of several key improvements to the water operator certification in Arkansas. These included the transition of water operator exams for State developed specific exams to the current exams developed by WPI for a national standard and the implementation mandatory operator training requirements. He was an active member of many industry groups and associations and an avid volunteer and lifelong contributor to operator exam development and certification standard setting efforts.
Mr. Nutt was also recently presented with the Harris F. Seidel Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of the Association of Boards of Certification at their annual conference in January. The award was stated to be in recognition of his:
. . . contributions toward advancing the cause of certifying environmental professionals as the Arkansas Drinking Water Operator Training and Certification Officer for the past 30 years.
