Talkbusiness.net (“Talk Business”) reported that Glen Hooks has joined Audubon Delta (an office of the National Audubon Society) as its Policy Manger.
Mr. Hooks previously served as Director of Sierra Club’s Arkansas Chapter.
Both the National Audubon Society (“Audubon”) and Sierra Club are major national environmental organizations with Arkansas chapters.
The Sierra Club was founded in 1892 and its focus includes addressing environmental issues such as climate change, clean energy, clean air, and clean water.
Audubon has traditionally emphasized coastal resilience and stewardship, climate adaption, mitigation policy, native plant production, community use engagement and conservation science.
Talk Business quotes Mr. Hook’s as stating in regards to Audubon Delta:
. . .They’ve got a good plan to expand their clean energy work over the next couple of years, and they’ve been doing some impressive work over the last five to 10 years here in Arkansas, too.
Audubon Arkansas had been established in 2000 as the 25th State Office of Audubon
The Arkansas Audubon Chapter recently merged with Audubon Mississippi and Audubon Louisiana (i.e., forming Audubon Delta).
Mr. Hooks had worked for the Sierra Club for more than 18 years. He is quoted in the Talk Business article as stating that his last day at the Sierra Club will be November 12th and expects a search for the next Arkansas Director to begin soon.
The Arkansas Chapter of the Sierra Club has been involved in a number of significant issues in the state over the last several years. Examples of such issues have included the Clean Air Act and associated programs such as Regional Haze.
