Ms. Bailey Taylor has been appointed by Governor Sanders to serve as the Director of the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment’s Division of Environmental Quality (“DEQ”) and Chief Administrator of Environment.
She was appointed as Interim Chief Administrator of the Environment when Caleb Osborne left DEQ to join the private sector.
Ms. Taylor has held a number of other positions at DEQ of increasing responsibility which include:
- Interim Office of Land Resources Associate Administrator.
- Deputy Associate Director for the Office of Water Quality.
- Office of Land Resources Branch Manager – Policy Administration.
- Office of Water Quality – Enforcement Coordinator.
- Office of Water Quality – Enforcement Analyst.
In a prior non-DEQ position, she served as an Environmental Scientist at the Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health.
Ms. Taylor is quoted in an August 19th news release from the Governor’s Office as stating:
…I am honored and excited to be chosen by Governor Sanders to fulfill the role as Chief Administrator of the Environment and DEQ Director. DEQ’s robust programs enable the regulatory community to confidently operate while protecting the environment. It is important that we work with stakeholders to understand and address the challenges in a manner that best serves the State and all Arkansans…
Ms. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Central Arkansas.
