Ms. Tammie Hynum of the Arkansas Department of Energy & Environment - Division of Environmental Quality (“DEQ”) has announced that she will retire at the end of April.
Tammie currently serves as the DEQ Office of Land Resources Quality Assurance Manager.
Tammie has worked for DEQ for the past 32 years. Her service date began in 1990. Prior DEQ positions include:
- Hazardous Waste Inspector
- Hazardous Waste Inspector Supervisor
- Hazardous Waste Branch Manager
- Hazardous Waste Division Chief
- Senior Manager of Regulated Waste
- Senior Operations Manager for the Waste Program (within the Office of Land Resources)
- Senior Manager of the Tire Accountability Program
Prior to her DEQ service, Tammie was employed at the Pine Bluff Arsenal BZ Demilitarization Facility where she was in charge of the quality assurance and quality control of the onsite laboratory. She also maintained a Chemical Personnel Reliability Program security clearance.
Tammie’s educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Science in Toxicology from Northeast Louisiana University
- Completion of Master of Science Studies in Environmental Engineering and Wetland Delineation
Certification and honors include:
- Arkansas Governmental Manager Certification (Arkansas Public Administration Consortium)
- National Certified Public Manager (Arkansas Public Administration Consortium)
Tammie has participated in professional organizations such as:
- Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials (Chair of the Hazardous Waste Subcommittee)
- ECOS (Region VI representative involved in the development of SmartTools)
- Solid Waste Association of North America
- Arkansas Environmental Federation (Guest Speaker)
