The Illinois River Watershed Partnership (“IRWP”) is seeking to hire a Restoration Specialist.
The position is described as:
- Leading conservation and restoration programming
- Working with public and private landowners across the watershed
The IRWP describes itself as working:
. . . to improve the integrity of the Illinois River Watershed through public education, outreach, and implementation of conservation and restoration practices throughout the watershed.
The essential functions of the position are stated to include:
- Conduct landowner outreach, identify riparian restoration opportunities, and implement conservation and restoration projects based on strategic priorities.
- Develop landowner services agreements including project designs, timelines, and long-term maintenance, serving as project manager throughout the project implementation cycle.
- Solicit, negotiate, and develop contracts with vendors for project design and implementation as needed.
- Develop partnerships with other public and private partners leading and coordinating implementation of conservation and restoration projects throughout the watershed.
- Represent IRWP and provide thought leadership on conservation best management practices.
The qualifications are stated to include:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Natural Resources, Landscape Architecture, Forestry, Environmental Science, Biology or related with at least three years’ work experience.
- Knowledge of current trends and practices in conservation, land management, and natural resource preservation and have experiences explaining practices to technical and non-technical audiences. Familiarity with the region’s native species, natural stream restoration techniques, fluvial morphology, and/or floodplain management preferred.
- Effective communication with individuals and groups in face-to-face, one-on-one settings, group settings, and penchant for building long-term landowner relationships.
- Experience with basic computer applications such as Word, Excel, Office and PowerPoint. Experience with design software such as AutoCAD and GIS software a plus.
