The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission has scheduled its next meeting for April 5th at 2:00 PM via Zoom only.
The substantive agenda items include:
- Applications for financial assistance.
- Other commission business.
An additional agenda item includes consideration of amendments to the Rules Governing Conservation Districts (Title II). The rule amendments incorporate changes required by Arkansas Acts 690 and 691 of 2023. They revise the appointment and election of conservation district board members.
Arkansas conservation districts are political subdivisions in the state of Arkansas. They are created by a popular vote of resident landowners for the purpose of conserving land and water resources and operate and authorized by Act 197 of the Arkansas General Assembly of 1937. In other words, their responsibility includes the management of soil and water resources. A district is currently governed by a board of five directors. Two directors are appointed and three are elected by resident landowners.
