The Arkansas Natural Resources Division (“ANRD”) announced it will hold a scheduled meeting on December 15th.
The meeting will be held both in person (1 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR) and via Zoom.
ANRD is a division of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture. It establishes policy and makes funding and regulatory decisions relative to soil conservation, nutrient management, water rights, dam safety and water resources planning and development.
The division states that at the December 15th meeting it will receive and address public comments regarding a proposed rule to implement Act 605 of 2021. Act 605 amended Arkansas Code Title 14, Chapter 234 to add a subchapter titled:
Subchapter 8 – Oversight of Retail Water Providers
Act 605 references Senate Bill 386 sponsored by Senator A. Clark and Representative Love which amended the law concerning retail water providers and related services. A Legislative Task Force had previously been created to consider a number of issues related to water providers such as area served, importance of water supplies to economic development, etc. The Arkansas Water Provider Legislative Task Force subsequently published a report titled:
