The Beaver Water District (“BWD”) publication The Source announced Chief Executive Officer Alan D. Fortenberry has retired.
Mr. Fortenberry spent 28 years in various positions with BWD, which is located in Northwest Arkansas.
Accomplishments during his 18 year tenure as Chief Executive Officer are stated to have included:
. . . the expansion of the District’s facilities from 50 million gallons a day (MGD) to 140 MGD, including the completion of a nationally recognized raw water intake facility on Beaver Lake, construction of a new solids handling facility, and renovation of the original Joe M. Steele Water Treatment Plant.
The development and construction of the Administration and Water Education Center was also noted. The Center earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Mr. Fortenberry’s professional accomplishments have included:
- 2010 AWWA Southwest Section Glen T. Kellogg Leadership Award
- George Warren Fuller Award
- Induction into the Arkansas Water Works and Water Environment Association’s Glen T. Kellogg Water & Wastewater Hall of Fame
- Inaugural recipient of the John Lewis Leadership Award by Elevate Performance
- Member of the Academy of Biological/Agricultural Engineering
- Member of the Academy of Civil Engineering
- Service on the Advisory Council for the Dean of the University of Arkansas College of Engineering
- Recognition as a Distinguished Alumni of the University of Arkansas College of Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer
Mr. Lane Crider is succeeding Mr. Fortenberry as CEO.
