The Bayou Meto Water Management District (“District”) announced that Tony Ramick has joined the organization as Assistant Director.
Mr. Ramick retired with more than 33 years of service to the State of Arkansas which included:
- Arkansas Department of Health
- Arkansas Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Division
Service at the Natural Resources Division included 21 years as a Division Manager.
Mr. Ramick’s experience includes addressing issues involving:
- Federal and State Grants
- Arkansas Non-Point Source Pollution Management Program
- Arkansas Unpaved Roads Program
- Arkansas Water Plan Update
The District is currently constructing an irrigation, flood control, and wildlife habitat project in Pulaski, Lonoke, Prairie, Arkansas and Jefferson counties. The project will provide water from the Arkansas River to conserve the alluvial and Sparta aquifers. Two major pump stations have been constructed and the main canal (located at Scott) is under construction.
The Natural Resources Conservation Service has to date awarded the District over $40 million for additional construction.
