The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (“ADEQ”) issued a news release stating the Beautiful Buffalo River Action Committee (“Committee”) will meet at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (“ADEQ”) on May 16th .
The Committee was established by Governor Hutchinson in 2016 in order to develop an Arkansas-led, non-regulatory approach to identify opportunities in the Buffalo River Watershed. The state agencies which comprise the Committee include:
- Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality
- Arkansas Department of Health
- Arkansas Agricultural Department
- Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism
- Arkansas Natural Resources Commission
These agencies serve as Committee members along with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as a “partner” in the organization’s work.
Governor Hutchinson directed the Committee to:
- Establish measurable objectives
- Set achievable items
- Establish durable partnerships
- Share agency resources
- Inform policymakers and the general public of relevant progress
ADEQ states that the May 16th Committee meeting will “host public and private presentations on potential actions to maintain and enhance the vitality of the Buffalo River Watershed.”
The meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the ADEQ headquarters.
