United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) Administrator Regan issued a statement on March 28th in response to the Biden-Harris Administration’s budget submitted to Congress for fiscal year 2023.
The Administration’s budget requests $11.881 billion in funding for EPA.
Administrator Regan’s statement indicates that the submitted budget addresses what are described as “key priorities” in the FY 2022-2026 EPA Strategic Plan.
The priorities cited included:
- Addressing climate change
- Advancing environmental justice
- Protecting air quality
- Upgrading United States water infrastructure
- Rebuilding core functions at the agency
- Addressing hazardous waste and environmental damage
- Implementing the Toxic Substances and Control Act
- Addressing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances
- Enforcing and ensuring compliance with United States environmental laws
