Nate Weston will undertake a webinar on February 26th for the Arkansas Native Society titled:
Biodiversity and the Role of Disturbance in Managing Natural Ecosystems
Mr. Weston is a Geospatial Ecologist with Beaver Watershed Alliance.
The announcement for the webinar notes:
- Disturbances (natural or human-driven) positively or negatively affect ecosystems, their function, and how organisms interact
- Understanding the role of disturbance in shaping natural communities provide land managers tools to:
- Assist nature in encouraging desirable outcomes such as biodiversity
- Help mitigate undesirable consequences such as invasive species infestation or ecological collapse
Mr. Weston is described as having worked in landscape and restoration ecology, natural resources management, and environmental education for over 10 years.
For the Beaver Watershed Alliance he assists public and private landowners in developing voluntary land management strategies to address:
- Erosion
- Native plants
- Invasive species management
- Habitat improvement
- Overall watershed vitality
