United States Environmental Protection (“EPA”) Administrator Michael Regan sent a December 2nd letter to the state governors addressing the recently enacted Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal (“BID”).
The letter includes suggestions from the Administrator for projects the governors are asked to consider funding with the monies received from the BID.
A copy of funds EPA expects to allocate to the states has been prepared. The State of Arkansas is referenced as receiving $93,252,000.
The Administrator in the December 2nd letter states that the majority of the water infrastructure dollars from the BID will “flow through the State Revolving Funds.” He cites Assistant Administrator Radhika Fox as issuing in the near future national program guidance from EPA’s Office of Water to state primacy agencies for the use of water infrastructure funding through the BID.
The Administrator also references EPA’s aspirations in terms of funding targets such as:
- Target resources to disadvantaged communities
- Make rapid progress on lead-free water for all
- Tackle forever chemicals (PFAS)
A copy of the December 2nd letter along with the chart showing allocation to states can be found here.
