The Arkansas Department of Agriculture issued a news release noting that inspectors from the Bureau of Standards (“BOS”) have increased the number of fuel quality checks it conducts in Arkansas.
The BOS is a section found in the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.
The news release states that the BOS has modified fuel sampling standards to incorporate COVID-19 health and safety precautions for the protection of both the public and inspectors.
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture notes that the BOS petroleum products section is authorized to collect and test samples of:
. . . engine fuels, petroleum products, and automotive lubricants marketed in Arkansas for compliance with quality standards.
These activities are conducted through random spot checks at retail, wholesale and terminal locations in Arkansas. However, BOS inspectors are stated to also collect fuel samples in response to complaints from the public. BOS has a fuel quality lab at which such samples are analyzed by its chemists.
BOS is stated to identify water as the most frequent contaminant found in fuel.
