The Occupational Safety Health Administration (“OSHA”) issued a September 10 news release stating it cited Christus Shreveport- Dossier Health System (“System”) for alleged violations.
OSHA states that it cited the Shreveport, Louisiana system for allegedly failing to ensure employees wore protective equipment related to protection from COVID-19.
A coronavirus-related investigation is stated to have been initiated after OSHA received reports of employee exposure. The news release states that the agency found that emergency facility employees often shared used protective gowns or did not have protective gowns to wear while treating patients.
OSHA is proposing $13,494 in penalties.
The System has fifteen business days from receipt of the citation and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA’s Area Director, or contest the findings before the Independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
