The United States Energy Information Administration (“EIA”) issued a June 20th report titled:
Stay-at-Home Orders Led to Less Commercial and Industrial Electricity Use in April (“Report”)
Electricity sales for April 2020 for three sectors (residential, commercial, industrial) were compared with April 2019.
Residential electricity sales in the United States are stated to have increased 8 % in comparison with April 2019. In fact, United States residential electricity sales in April are stated to have set a record for April. However, commercial and industrial sectors are stated to have decreased 11% and 9%, respectively.
As to commercial electricity and industrial sales, these were stated to have been the lowest since April 2003 (commercial) and April 1987 (industrial).
The figures in the EIA Report are stated to reflect temperature values taking into account population-weighted and billing period-weighted combination of daily heating degree day and daily cooling degree day totals.
