The Arkansas Department of Energy & Environment – Division of Environmental Quality (“DEQ”) issued a November 28th news release stating it is making $1.47 million available for eligible diesel emission reduction projects under its Go RED! Program.
The program provides funding assistance to Arkansas-based organizations for projects that reduce diesel emissions from:
- Heavy-duty highway trucks
- Buses
- Marine engines
- Locomotives
- Nonroad engines
Funding is provided by the Diesel Emission Reduction Act.
Eligible project types include:
- Vehicle and equipment replacement,
- Engine replacement,
- Certified remanufacture systems,
- Idle reduction technology,
- Retrofits,
- Clean alternative fuel conversions, and
- Aerodynamic technologies and low rolling resistance tires.
DEQ notes that Go RED! award participants last year included:
- Clinton School District – Replaced Two School Buses
- Two Rivers School District – Replaced One School Bus
- Ozark School District – In Process of Replacing One School Bus
- Shirley School District – In Process of Replacing One School Bus
- Mountainburg School District – In Process of Replacing One School Bus
Note that DEQ will begin accepting applications on December 1st and there are rolling deadlines.
