The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (“ADEQ”) issued a December 14th news release stating it is accepting submissions for the Reduce Emissions from Diesels program (also known as the Go RED! program.)
By way of background, ADEQ notes that in 2005:
. . .Congress passed the Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA). DERA stipulates that seventy percent of the funds it appropriates annually be used for national competitive grants. The remaining thirty percent of funds are allocated to the states to reduce diesel emissions.
The vehicle for distributing these funds in Arkansas is the Go RED! program. Funding is used to reimburse certain entities for a percentage of expenses for projects that reduce or eliminate diesel emissions on medium and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, or for replacements of those vehicles and equipment. Entities reimbursed include:
- Agencies
- Businesses
- Cities
- Counties
- Schools
Various school districts and a transportation company are cited as recipients of funds in 2017 that totaled $219,359.
ADEQ states the first of what it describes as rolling deadlines for proposals is December 29, 2017.
