The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment – Division of Environmental Quality (“DEQ”) issued a June 11th news release announcing it was extending the deadline for submittal of required reimbursement documentation under agreements to award funds to Arkansas school districts to replace or repower older diesel school buses through the Go RED! Program.
DEQ states that the purpose of the extension is to ensure flexibility for school districts impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funding for this program is intended to reimburse agencies, businesses, cities, counties, and schools for a percentage of expenses for projects that reduce or eliminate diesel emissions on medium and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment or for replacements of those vehicles and equipment.
The revised deadline for submittal of required documents for reimbursement requests is stated to have been extended to December 31, 2020.
DEQ is stated to have entered into agreements for the program year that started December 1, 2019, awarding $406,829 to school districts across the state.
