The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) announced it had awarded the Arkansas Natural Resource Commission (“ANRC”) a grant for $637,000.
EPA describes the grant as being targeted toward improving:
. . . drinking water and provide assistance to underserved, small and disadvantaged communities in the state.
EPA further states that uses of the fund will relate to the Safe Drinking Water Act and includes:
- Studies
- Projects
- Technical assistance
- Compliance activities
A specific use of the funds is described as the development of drinking water system consolidation studies. EPA believes that drinking water systems with limited resources should explore partnerships to build capacity.
The funds were awarded pursuant to the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act.
