The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment – Division of Environmental Quality (“DEQ”) issued a December 15th news release announcing what it describes as an “Energy Performance Contracting Project” (“Project”).
The Project is being coordinated by DEQ’s Office of Energy.
DEQ will be undertaking the Project with the Arkansas Department of Corrections (“DOC”) and Entegrity.
DEQ describes the project as including:
. . . energy-efficiency improvements at DOC’s Tucker Unit, Tucker Max Unit, and Tucker Re-Entry Facility, as well as multi-megawatt solar installations for DOC’s Division of Corrections and Division of Community Corrections . . .
DEQ states that the Project will result in $3.2 million in annual savings for DOC. Further, this is described as the second phase of energy-efficiency improvements at DOC.
In commenting on the Arkansas Energy Performance Contracting program, Secretary of the Department of Energy and Environment Becky Keogh stated that the program:
. . . promotes efficiency in state government, having guaranteed Arkansas taxpayers nearly $500 million in savings since 2013. We commend the DOC for its collaborative and innovative approach to reducing costs, conserving energy resources, and creating efficiencies.”
