The Association of Clean Water Agencies (“ACWA”) announced in its weekly publication that the United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) released the Biosolids Facility Report (“Report”) on the agency’s Enforcement and Compliance History Online (“ECHO”) tool. See Weekly Wrap Vol. IX (Issue 28).
ECHO is EPA’s public website developed in 2002 that provides compliance information about regulated facilities such as:
- how they are regulated (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Safe Drinking Water Act)
- when they were inspected
- whether violations in the environmental regulations were found
- whether enforcement actions were taken
ECHO also provides aggregated activity statistics by state and certain batch files.
ACWA notes that facilities in 42 states (i.e., those where EPA implements the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System Federal Biosolids program) submitted Biosolids Annual Reports electronically. Annual biosolids reports are required by 40 C.F.R. Part 503. Such reports must be completed by February 19th containing data from the prior year.
