The Illinois River Watershed Partnership is holding its 12th Annual Riparian Project (“Project”).
The Project will be conducted in five planting locations:
- Prairie Grove, Arkansas – Ogden Ranch
- Springdale, Arkansas – Downtown
- Rogers, Arkansas – Mercy Trailhead
- Siloam Springs, Arkansas – Across from Kayak Park
- Fayetteville – Along Owl Creek across form Woolsey Wet Prairie
Volunteers will plant trees and bushes in riparian (streamside) areas to help stabilize streambanks, prevent erosion, which will filter contaminants and trash before reaching the water. Such efforts are stated to provide valuable wildlife habitat both on land and in the stream.
The Project is described as a family-friendly event in which all are welcome.
