United States Congressman Max Miller (Ohio) and Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (North Carolina) have introduced legislation titled:
Innovative Mitigation Partnerships for Asphalt and Concrete Technologies (IMPACT) Act.
The stated objective of the IMPACT Act is to:
…strengthen and enhance the competitiveness of American manufacturing by developing advanced technologies that will improve the efficiency of cement, concrete, and asphalt production.
The sponsors stated the legislation will:
- Enable industry in the United States Department of Energy to work collaboratively on fundamental research that will enhance existing production methods and unlock new innovative techniques; and,
- Enable the United States Department of Energy, in consultation with other federal agencies, to offer technical assistance to entities seeking to promote the commercial application of low-emissions cement, concrete, and asphalt.
