The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) Office of Inspector General (“OIG”) issued a July 8th Project Notification titled:
Inquiry into EPA’s Use of Artificial Intelligence. (“Notification”).
The Memorandum providing the Notification was transmitted from Sean W. O’Donnell, Inspector General, to Kimberly Patrick, Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator of the EPA.
OIG states that it is initiating an inquiry into EPA’s use of artificial intelligence per the following:
- Executive Order 13960, Promoting the Use of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence in the Federal Government.
- Executive Order 14110, Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence.
- Office of Management and Budget’s Memorandum M-24-10, Advancing Governance, Innovation, and Risk Management for Agency Use of Artificial Intelligence.
OIG states that it will conduct interviews, gather data, and analyze the information for adherence to regulations, policies, and procedures.
