The Beaver Watershed Alliance (“BWA”) has scheduled a webinar titled:
Invasive Plant Species Removal Strategies for Local Communities (“Webinar”)
The Webinar is a part of BWA’s Speaker Series titled:
Investing in Water Supply Protection in NWA – It’s good for business, agriculture, recreation, nature, and you!
The Webinar will be held on May 20th from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
The Webinar speaker is John Scott who is an Urban Forestry, ISA Certified Arborist in the Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Fayetteville.
BWA, in describing the Webinar, notes:
Local cities are taking proactive, coordinated steps to eradicate invasive plant species, on the ground level and through city frameworks. . . . The City of Fayetteville has taken steps to address invasive species through volunteer efforts, training city staff, obtaining removal equipment, city codes and ordinances, and public education. . . . invasive species include plants that are nonnative to an ecosystem. Left unmanaged, these plants can disrupt ecological systems in parks and natural areas and overtake native plant populations, causing degradation to soils, vegetation, water quality, and habitat.
